Vancouver Joomla DemoCamp – join us!

You may notice that JenTekk is becoming more and more involved in activities surrounding Joomla – as a participant and sponsor.

This is in part due to the fact that I adore the product – sure call me a Joomlarette if you want to! In addition, any projects that Rastin Mehr (from rmd Studio) and I collaborate on almost always involve using Joomla CMS. Rastin’s the fella that got me hooked on Joomla. I’m okay with this!

So I’d like to inform you of our next event: Vancouver Joomla DemoCamp

Joomla DemoCamp Details

On Tuesday eve. Feb 26th we will be gathering together to discuss and learn how to setup and maintain a small website using the Joomla! CMS version 1.5

We will be discussing Information Architecture and Template Design methods, tips, and ideas. You will also get to meet other people and learn about their experience with content management systems.

What is it about?

We are going to learn how to:

Plan and organize content for a content management driven website
Use the Joomla’s Section, Category, and Articles management to organize the content
Use the Menu Manager to create a sensible navigation strategy on your website
Make use of the flexible Module and Template system in the Joomla CMS
Design a simple Joomla template and more

This will be a group activity, meaning that participants will be exchanging tips and ideas. We will also be answering questions that you may have about Joomla! and content management systems in general. If you have ideas to present please don’t be shy and bring it forward.

Who could benefit from this event

The Information Architecture and Website Administration aspects of our conversation will be useful to anyone who will be using a content management system to maintain their website. That will include Communication Coordinators, Editors, Web Masters, Web Designers, and Web Application Developers who develop for the Joomla! CMS.

We will be showing how to design a simple Joomla template and utilize the flexible features in the Joomla CMS template engine, therefore Web Designers and Developers will particularly find these information useful.
