2006 Kids SRC - Extreme Reading
The Kids Summer Reading Club is sponsored by the British Columbia Library Association, where each summer over 80,000 kids head down to their local public library, sign up, and join the fun.
The Club theme changes every year with the theme Extreme Reading for 2006. The program also hires a different local artist to draw the required illustrations. This year the artist is Kirsti Wakelin from right here in Vancouver.
The Kids SRC website itself plays a significant roll in the success of this program through online quizzes, links to interesting websites, book lists, games, downloadable coloring pages and so much more.
Designing a site for the kids is a blast with all the bright colors, humorous illustrations and creative freedom, but knowing this enables them learn to read better... that's priceless.
Thank you BLCA for bringing me on board to design the 2006 BC Summer Reading Club - it was "Extremely Fun"!
The 2006 Kids SRC is sponsored by the British Columbia Library Association, and the local public libraries with the assistance of the Public Library Services Branch, Ministry of Education, Shirley Bond, Minister.
