JenTekk is pleased to announce the launch of the 2009 Kids Summer Reading Club (SRC) website today. We are honored to have been invited yet again (fourth year) to assist with the Kids SRC program.

Kids Summer Reading Club (SRC) 2009

The Kids SRC is designed to get children reading, with the use of a fun theme, posters, stickers, a reading record, bookmarks, completion medals, and novelty items. In addition each year they have a new designed website which offers 7 quizzes (1 for each week of the program) word puzzles, and fun games.

Interestingly enough, some of the kids that participate in the Kids SRC are children of my own friends. That certainly makes it pretty exciting.

This year's artist is award winning illustrator/author Scot Ritchie. Scot also lives here in Vancouver - just a stones throw from the ocean.

Thank you!

Thank you again to the BC Library Association for the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful program.

The 2009 Kids SRC is sponsored by the British Columbia Library Association, and the local public libraries with the assistance of the Public Library Services Branch, Ministry of Education, Shirley Bond, Minister.

Each summer, Kids in BC are afforded an opportunity to do something constructive and fun with their time by joining a summer reading club.

It's totally free. If you're interested in enrolling your kids, simply head on down to your local library and sign up.

JenTekk is happy to have been asked back by the British Columbia Library Association to create the 2007 Kids Summer Reading Club website. With the 2006 website under our belt, we were excited to see what the theme would be this year, and looked forward to the artist's creative work - our inspiration for the website's look & feel.

Kids Summer Reading Club 2006

The Club theme changes every year with the theme Catch the Reading Bug for 2007. In addition, the program also hires a different local artist to draw the required illustrations. Ashley Spires was chosen to design the artwork for 2007.

The Kids Summer Reading Club is sponsored by the British Columbia Library Association, where each summer over 80,000 kids head down to their local public library, sign up, and join the fun.

Kids Summer Reading Club 2006

The Club theme changes every year with the theme Extreme Reading for 2006. The program also hires a different local artist to draw the required illustrations. This year the artist is Kirsti Wakelin from right here in Vancouver.

The Kids SRC website itself plays a significant roll in the success of this program through online quizzes, links to interesting websites, book lists, games, downloadable coloring pages and so much more.

Designing a site for the kids is a blast with all the bright colors, humorous illustrations and creative freedom, but knowing this enables them learn to read better... that's priceless.

Thank you BLCA for bringing me on board to design the 2006 BC Summer Reading Club - it was "Extremely Fun"!
